"Dear Post Bulletin,
My name is Alexander Ou. I recently had an article posted about me
under the title, "Two men charged in gang dispute, shooting." Although
I can't confirm the entire article was false, a majority of the
information provided was misleading as well as incorrect. I have taken
into consideration that you are doing your job and providing the
public with entertainment and news that may be eye-catching to a
reader, but I hope you take into consideration what an article filled
with incorrect assumptions of that nature can do to a man. I also
understand that you are using information provided to you by the
authorities, but throughout my 13 years of attending a private school,
I've always been taught that you are innocent until proven guilty here
in America. I'm a proud young father of two, ages 23 months and 7
months. I would not risk their lives by becoming a dangerous gang
member as described in the article. The article states that I am an
identified gang member, false. Although I know people who are in
gangs, that does not make me an identified gang member. I won't
continue with anything else written in the article due to the
possibility of affecting my case, but I would like to voice my opinion
on something else.
On October 21, 2009, I was interviewed by a very sweet lady named,
Christina Valdez. She's a reporter for the Post Bulletin and writes
for the Life section. She wrote an article about me that I have yet
to see and may never see due to the article written about me by Janice
Gregorson. On October 28, 2009, in the "Up next in Life..." section,
there is a picture of me behind my kids with the caption, "Life's
Soundtrack, A Rochester musician and poet puts his life-experience to
a hip-hop beat." On October 30, 2009, this article was going to be
released and printed. It, more than likely, would portray quite a
different individual than the fabricated individual portrayed in the
article written by Janice. But because of Janice's article, it was
not permitted. I don't feel bitter about the article not being
released, but do feel robbed. An article written, that may have given
the people of Rochester a slightly different perception of me, was
robbed from me due to an article that was written based on accusations
that have not been proven.
I hope you read this letter and find it somewhere in you to reconsider
printing the article that Christina Valdez has written.
